As a Lactation IBCLC Registered Nurse, you assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care through outcome identification and evidence-based practice. You coordinate care as an integral team member, collaborating with healthcare professionals, patients, and families.

Perform patient assessments leading to development, implementation, and evaluation of care plans from 12p to 9p or 1p to 10p. Administer, monitor, and document therapeutic interventions while effectively managing rapidly changing situations. Educate patients and families on disease processes, care needs, wellness, and safety issues.

Requirements

  • Valid NJ RN License, approved and maintained per State of New Jersey licensing board
  • IBCLC certification in progress or completed
  • Ability to coordinate patient care and collaborate extensively with healthcare team, patients, and families
  • High standards of professional ethics
  • Competency in assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care
  • Knowledge of evidence-based lactation management and maternal-infant support
  • Experience in maternity or newborn care environments

Responsibilities

  • Perform an assessment of the patient, leading to development, implementation and evaluation of a plan of care
  • Administer, monitor and document therapeutic interventions and regimes
  • Effectively manage rapidly changing situations
  • Participate in clinical decision-making
  • Educate patient and family/responsible party regarding disease process, individual care needs, wellness, safety issues
  • Delegate and monitor care rendered by other members of nursing department and healthcare team
  • Demonstrate standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice
  • Assess and support lactation and breastfeeding for mother-infant dyads, addressing latch, milk supply, and positioning
