
About this role
Under the general direction of the Director of Nursing and the nurse manager of the assigned unit, the Clinical Nurse Educator functions as one of the unit’s clinical leadership team. They coordinate professional development, patient safety, patient satisfaction, and quality outcomes. Essential functions include real-time assessment of outcomes and feedback to staff.
The Clinical Nurse Educator collects basic quality data for integration into aggregate analysis. They provide educational resources necessary to prepare and maintain competencies of unit-based direct care staff. This ensures provision of safe, quality patient care in accordance with hospital policy and standards.
The role involves collaboration with other health care professionals to coordinate seamless, cost-effective, outcome-oriented patient-focused care. They function and multi-task in a dynamic environment. Organizational skills support coordination and management of projects and departmental initiatives.
The Clinical Nurse Educator contributes to increasing Nursing’s body of knowledge and improving standards of nursing care. They apply knowledge of evidence-based clinical research and process improvement strategies. Experience with data collection and interpretation drives quality performance measures.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5-10 years of current clinical experience
- Proficiency in communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Demonstrated experience in clinical teaching
- Knowledge of evidence-based clinical research current findings and resources
- Knowledge of process improvement strategies
- Demonstrated ability and effective organizational skills to coordinate and manage projects/departmental initiatives
- Experience with data collection and interpretation of quality performance measures
- Computer skills including email, Outlook, Microsoft Office and presentation applications such as PowerPoint
