Maternity Care Assistant

This casual position offers current NZ Bachelor of Midwifery Programme students a unique opportunity to develop skills while studying. Work around your timetable in the Maternity Ward at Dunedin Hospital.

As a Maternity Care Assistant, support midwives by assisting with patient care under supervision. Handle basic baby care such as bathing, changing nappies, and settling babies. Clean equipment, prepare birthing rooms, assist women with showering and meal times, and perform clerical duties for smooth department operations.

At the Queen Mary Maternity Unit, care for fabulous women and families from a diverse region alongside kind, compassionate midwives and health professionals. Birth around 1,800 babies each year while working closely with midwifery and medical schools. Te Whatu Ora Southern provides services to 350,000 people across the largest geographical coverage in New Zealand.
