Under physician supervision, apply the nursing process by observing patient conditions, formulating diagnoses, and creating age-specific care plans. Perform essential skills, explain treatments, and teach mothers and families self-care for health needs. Focus on safety, comfort, hygiene, disease prevention, and restorative measures.

Function as a multidisciplinary team member serving as consultant, educator, mentor, and role model for medical staff and patients. Demonstrate leadership by supervising, directing, and delegating to volunteer team members. Provide care tailored to newborns, adolescent through middle adulthood women, and family dynamics.

Requirements

  • RN licensure with skills for outpatient lactation support
  • Excellent assessment and implementation skills for breastfeeding goals
  • Knowledge to provide care based on physical, psycho/social criteria for newborns and childbearing women
  • Understanding of family dynamics between child and parent
  • Ability to function as consultant, educator, and mentor in multidisciplinary team
  • Clinical expertise as role model for medical staff and patients
  • Proficiency in nursing process including diagnosis, planning, and teaching

Responsibilities

  • Provide lactation consultation and education for breastfeeding mothers in outpatient clinics
  • Assess physical condition and behavior to formulate diagnoses in collaboration with physicians
  • Develop age-specific care plans ensuring patient safety, comfort, hygiene, and disease prevention
  • Perform essential nursing skills and teach mothers and families health care needs
  • Demonstrate leadership by supervising, directing, and delegating to volunteer team members
  • Serve as clinical expert, role model, and educational resource to team, patients, and families
  • Transfer knowledge from social, biological, and physical sciences in nursing process
  • Delegate tasks to subordinates based on legal scopes of practice
