Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, one of the nation’s leading children’s hospitals, seeks a Lactation Consultant IBCLC for Arthur M. Blank Hospital. Participate as an interdisciplinary patient care team member to provide lactation services and education within the medical center’s mission and values. Demonstrate expertise in care of mothers and infants with complex breastfeeding problems. Determine breastfeeding plans and provide instruction and support to mothers breastfeeding hospitalized children. Evaluate lactogenesis, latching on, breast milk intake, and manage issues with breasts or pumping equipment.

Implement standards of care, policies, and procedures for breastfeeding management, including breast milk collection, transport, storage, and feeding. Design and monitor inpatient lactation management standards and equipment procurement. Assist in assessing, planning, and evaluating teaching materials for patients and healthcare providers.

Direct lactation training and education of clinical staff, designing competency-based programs for nursing and nutrition teams. Maintain educational materials and conduct evaluations to ensure effective breastfeeding support. Join a committed team advancing pediatric maternity care through specialized expertise.

Requirements

  • Experience in pediatric populations from birth through early childhood
  • Bachelor of Science in Dietetics, Education, Nursing, or related field
  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
  • Current knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/services appropriate to the age of patients served
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate positive signs of lactogenesis and latching on
  • Evaluate adequacy of breast milk intake and determine appropriate goals
  • Evaluate and monitor problems or complaints related to breasts or pumping equipment
  • Implement standards of care and policies and procedures for breastfeeding management
  • Design, implement, and monitor policies for breast milk collection, transport, storage, and feeding
  • Direct lactation training and education of clinical staff
