Join The Matilda Centre for Research in Mental Health and Substance Use in a full-time or part-time (0.8 FTE) 12-month fixed-term opportunity as a Research Assistant. Contribute to a meaningful project exploring mental health and alcohol use among mothers. Coordinate a randomised controlled trial of a digital intervention for mothers with co-occurring concerns.

Day-to-day tasks include participant recruitment, data collection, progress reporting, and liaison with participants, researchers, and clinical staff. Prepare study materials like research protocols, ethics applications, surveys, and procedures. Develop and implement recruitment strategies across digital, social media, print, and broadcast channels.

Work closely with a supportive research team, clinicians, administrative staff, and web developers. Regularly test the website and digital intervention for technical issues and coordinate refinements. Manage trial communications and stakeholder relationships to ensure smooth project delivery.

Assist with dissemination of findings through reports, conference presentations, webinars, peer-reviewed publications, and grant submissions. Gain exposure to innovative prevention and early intervention programs in substance use and mental disorders. Suit highly organised individuals with experience in clinical trials and passion for mental health research.

  • Experience with ethics submissions and grant applications
  • Proficiency in developing social media campaigns for participant recruitment

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operations of a randomised controlled trial, including participant recruitment, data collection, progress reporting, and liaison with participants, researchers, and clinical staff
  • Prepare study materials, including research protocols, ethics applications, surveys, and study procedures
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate recruitment strategies across digital, social media, print, and broadcast channels
  • Regularly test the website and digital intervention for technical issues and coordinate refinements with web developers
  • Manage trial communications and stakeholder relationships with research teams, administrative staff, and web developers
  • Contribute to dissemination of findings through reports, conference presentations, webinars, peer-reviewed publications, and grant submissions
  • Provide operational and administrative support, including invoice processing, purchasing, and escalation of complex matters
