This role practices mental health therapy using psychotherapeutic and social work principles. It provides preventative services via direct consultation, supervision of social workers and interns, and program development.

Collaborate closely with treatment teams including medical doctors to address social and emotional factors impacting patient well-being. Identify community agencies to help patients resume community life despite limitations. Develop and implement individualized treatment approaches for patients and families.

Work within a Level 1 Trauma Center nationally recognized for research, quality, and patient outcomes. Provide oversight for Certified Social Workers, Social Service Workers, and interns per Utah law. Perform therapy for individuals, groups, and couples, and assist with departmental policies.

Support post-treatment adjustments by coordinating with local, state, and federal agencies. Assess patient status to deliver care per department policies. Foster a culture of compassion, collaboration, innovation, responsibility, integrity, quality, and trust.

Requirements

  • Current Licensed Clinical Social Worker (L.C.S.W.) certificate for clinical practice in the State of Utah
  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system within 30 days of hire
  • Experience with conflict resolution when counseling individuals, couples and groups
  • Ability to communicate verbally as well as in writing
  • Ability to work independently and provide individual, group and couples counseling
  • Ability to oversee the activities of Social Workers, Interns and other caseworkers
  • Ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual
  • Ability to assist patients and their families with post-treatment adjustments working with local, state and federal agencies

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment approaches to meet needs of each patient and their families
  • Perform therapy activities for individual, group, and couples counseling
  • Assist in the development of departmental policies and procedures
  • Provide practicing oversight of Certified Social Workers, Social Service Workers, and interns in accordance with Utah state law
  • Perform Case Management duties
