About this role

The Hoag Specialty Clinic is seeking a part-time Psychiatrist to join a growing team of Maternal Mental Health Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, and therapists at Newport Beach and Irvine locations. This role includes clinical time and protected administrative time. It supports comprehensive maternity care through specialized psychiatric services.

The Psychiatrist will provide psychiatric evaluations for Hoag patients in the outpatient setting in person or via synchronous telehealth. Expert consultations will be offered for admitted maternity patients at Hoag Hospital’s Newport Beach and Irvine campuses. Time will be spent across these sites and telehealth platforms.

Join a multidisciplinary team with strong support from Hoag Women’s Health Institute. The program is expanding, fostering collaboration among psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and therapists. This environment emphasizes excellent clinical care in maternal mental health.

Schedule approximately 40 hours per week from 8am-5pm, balancing in-person and virtual care. Protected administrative time allows focus on both patient care and program development. Contribute to a growing initiative in reproductive maternal mental health.

Requirements

Board Certification or Board eligible in Psychiatry with experience in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry
Specialty training in Perinatal & Reproductive Psychiatry
MD or DO degree, and completion of ACGME accredited residency in Psychiatry
Active, unrestricted California Medical License, or eligible for California State Medical Licensure
Active DEA license
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team setting and a passion for providing excellent clinical care

Responsibilities

Provide psychiatric evaluations for patients in the outpatient setting in person or via synchronous telehealth
