About this role
Catherine’s House is a world-class perinatal and infant mental health integrated model of care, providing inpatient and outpatient services. This permanent, full-time senior clinical role sits within the Families in Mind Team, an outpatient/community service supporting mothers and families during perinatal and postnatal periods.
The role delivers clinical care to mothers and fathers across the perinatal period, focusing on antenatal/postnatal anxiety, birth trauma, adjustment to parenting, and low mood. It involves evidence-based assessments, group and individual interventions within the Families in Mind framework.
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team at Mater Health, reporting to the Team Leader of Intake, Community and Outpatient Services. Develop cross-sectoral partnerships with GPs, community mental health services, NGOs, and maternity services to facilitate referrals.
Engage in education, research, service improvement, and operational activities. Coordinate the Together in Mind group program with training provided, attend state-wide forums, and contribute to ongoing data collection and program development.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience and ability to provide skilled mental health clinical assessment and interventions
- Demonstrated clinical practice and application of clinical judgement in the provision of high quality, evidence based, patient centred care, preferably within an acute mental health inpatient setting
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Well-developed interpersonal, problem solving and consumer focused skillset
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across Mater Health
- Experience supporting mothers and families with antenatal/postnatal anxiety, birth trauma, adjustment to parenting, emotional distress and low mood
- Knowledge of perinatal mental health services including Parenting Support Centre, Parent Aide Unit, Perinatal Psychology Team
Responsibilities
- Provide a high quality mental health out-patient service to mother-baby dyads and their families
- Deliver evidence-based mental health assessment, and group and individual interventions, within the framework of the Families in Mind Service
- Develop cross sectoral partnerships including local catchment GPs, community mental health services, NGOs, maternity services to facilitate referrals
- Provide perinatal mental health assessment and recovery orientated therapeutic interventions from conception up to 12 months postpartum
- Coordinate and deliver the Together in Mind (TiM) program, a collaborative 6 week mother-infant outpatient group program
- Ensure effective record keeping for both mother and infant including completion of information supporting clinical activity reporting i.e., Consumer Integrated Mental Health Application (CIMHA)
- Practice in accordance with relevant legislation, Acts and agreements, workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination practices
- Work with the QCPIMH team regarding ongoing data collection and program development requirements
