About this role

The Hoag Specialty Clinic is seeking a part-time Psychiatrist to join a growing team of Maternal Mental Health Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners, and Therapists at Newport Beach and Irvine locations. This role includes clinical time and protected administrative time. It supports comprehensive maternity care through psychiatric expertise.

Provide psychiatric evaluations for Hoag patients in outpatient settings, either in person or via synchronous telehealth. Offer expert consultations for admitted maternity patients at Hoag Hospital’s Newport Beach and Irvine campuses. Work approximately 2 days per week from 8am-5pm.

Join a multidisciplinary team in a growing Maternal Mental Health program. Receive support from the Hoag Women’s Health Institute. Collaborate with professionals passionate about excellent clinical care in maternity settings.

This position offers no weekend coverage, allowing work-life balance. Contribute to expanding perinatal mental health services. Ideal for those with a focus on reproductive psychiatry in a supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Board Certification or Board eligible in Psychiatry with experience in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry
  • Specialty training in Perinatal & Reproductive Psychiatry
  • MD or DO degree, and completion of ACGME accredited residency in Psychiatry
  • Active, unrestricted California Medical License, or eligible for California State Medical Licensure
  • Active DEA license
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team setting

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric evaluations for patients in the outpatient setting in person or via synchronous telehealth
  • Provide expert consultations for admitted maternity patients at Hoag Hospital’s Newport Beach and Irvine campuses
  • Work 2 days per week with approximate hours 8am-5pm and no weekend coverage required
  • Join a growing Maternal Mental Health program with support from Hoag Women’s Health Institute
  • Conduct perinatal psychiatric assessments for pregnant and postpartum patients
  • Manage psychopharmacological treatments tailored to maternal mental health needs
  • Collaborate with maternity care teams on consultation-liaison services
